Achroite Starter Deck

Species: Achroite
Level: 1

All Achroite start with the same starter deck at level 1. The goal of this deck is to give Achroite players a preview of how each color typically functions for Achroite abilities. As Achroite level up, they can hone their Draw Decks to be more focused on fewer colors.

Every Achroite card is labeled as Variari, Solo, Duo, Trio, Hexad, or Nonet, which refers to how high that card’s Charge Cost is (respectively, variable, 1, 2, 3, 6, or 9).

All of the Power Shift cards offer small, controllable stat bonuses. There’s no dice roll to see how effective the card is so they’re great for predictability. Power Shift: Red and Power Shift: Blue also offer rare boosts to Damage Bonus and Piercing Damage—bonuses that persist throughout the entire encounter. Dropping a Power Shift: Red during a turn where you’re out of Range of enemies and moving to get into position is a great way to set yourself up for more powerful following turns.

These Solo cards are you mainstay cards for increasing Barrier, dealing damage, increasing Move, reducing Barrier, increasing Health, and reducing Move. With a Charge Cost of 1, it’s likely you can play and charge these cards in a single turn—or delay charging until you’re ready to unleash a deluge of effects.

Fracture is a rare effect in that it reduces an enemy’s available Barrier. Unless your foes can boost Barrier, that’s a permanent loss of a shield that is supposed to recharge every turn—but won’t recharge if you’ve knocked it down to 0.

These Duo cards are stronger versions of the Solo cards and can target 1 additional character but have a higher Charge Cost.

Typically, you’ll want to put these cards into play but wait to fully charge them until you’re in a good position to hit multiple characters. Remember that for Duo cards, you can play 1 charge card and then wait to play the second charge card until you’re ready to resolve the card.
